Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association North Bay Branch is pleased to annouce their 2nd annual Canada Music Week Art Contest. Students from JK-Grade 12 are invited to submit their original artwork, which visually reflects one of three Canadian compositions selected. Artwork may be of any medium: water colour, paint, pastels, pencils, crayon, etc. and must meet the specified size requirements. For more information please call Jessica at 705-475-0654 or go to the OMRTA website at www.ormta.org/northbay. Registration forms can be picked up at J. Brooks Academy of Music, 391 Main St. E. North Bay. Deadline for submissions is November 15, 2011. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded on Saturday, November 26 at Christ Church; 890 Vimy Street.

Held since 1960, Canada Music Week is an annual event where music teachers, students, and their families gather together in their local communities all across Canada to celebrate Canadian music. The aims of Canada Music Week are to bring to the attention of the public, through various means, the importance of Canadian music; to support composers and performers of Canadian music; to introduce contemporary music to young Canadians and stimulate a keener appreciation and understanding of this music; and to encourage music educators to widen their knowledge and experience of Canadian works.
