Machar Township man charged with impaired driving

STRONG, TWP - On Sunday October 16, 2011 at 4:00am, officers from the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police detachment responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 124, Strong Township.

The vehicle, a 2006 Pontiac G6 was west bound on Highway 124 when the driver lost control on a curve in the road and ended up in a ditch, striking a rock cut.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to Huntsville District Memorial Hospital by ambulance where he was treated with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver, Eric BOTHAM (21) was charged with impaired driving, over 80miligrams of alcohol, dangerous driving and take motor vehicle without owners consent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. BOTHAM is also charged with drive motor vehicle – no licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act on Ontario.

BOTHAM was released from police custody and will appear in Sundridge Court on Tuesday November 15, 2011.
