Applauding her campaign team for well fought campaign Liberal candidate Dr. Catherine Whiting accepted defeat at the Shriners Club Thursday night.

Calling herself the ‘newbie’ to the political ring, Whiting says she is pleased with how much her team accomplished in the short amount of time they had to organise.

Gracious in her loss Whiting congratulated incoming MPP Victor Fedeli while reminding volunteers that the reason she tossed her hat into the ring because she didn’t want to go back to the days of Conservative divisiveness and culture of blame. She said although she will not be joining Dalton McGuinty and the Liberal team at Queen’s Park she pleased that they hold the balance of power and that she will be with them in spirit. She also urged Fedeli to support the important issues for the riding that include moving clean energy forward, building education and looking at poverty reduction.

Whiting was upbeat and cheerful during her speech until it came time to thank former MPP Monique Smith. Whiting was visably chocked up in thanking Smith for her tireless campaining on her behalf and all that she has done for the riding.
