The Traffic Section of the North Bay Police Service reports that Quarter 3 of 2011 saw a 5% reduction in accidents in North Bay and Callander, compared to the Third Quarter of 2010. This reduction follows a 22% increase in collisions for Quarter 1of 2011 and a 14% increase in Quarter 2 when compared to the same periods of last year.

Another positive trend up to this point in 2011 for North Bay and Callander is the reduction of persons charged with impaired driving. In the first 9 months of 2011, 44 persons have been charged with impaired driving, compared to 63 persons in 2010 for the same period. This represents a 30% reduction compared to the same period last year.

Uniform officers of the North Bay Police Service are committed to strict enforcement of the rules of the road in North Bay and Callander and will continue these efforts for the duration of 2011 in efforts to ensure the safe and efficient movement of traffic with the goal to reduce injuries and save lives.
