This week the Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute will visit Canadore College to discuss expanding their existing partnership agreement.

President Wayne Pierre from THTI, located in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, will be meeting with College representatives on October 3 and 4 to explore educational opportunities between the two institutions. The primary focus of discussions will be to expand student and faculty exchange opportunities and to develop joint course curriculum and delivery potentials.

"International exchanges represent an amazing learning opportunity for our students. Canadore students benefit greatly by welcoming foreign students into our domestic classrooms or by studying abroad," said Fraser Mowat, Canadore's International Officer. "Learning different cultures first-hand is a great way to prepare for a meaningful career in the hospitality and tourism industry."

Four students from Tobago are joining third semester classes in the Culinary Management program today.

"This is a great sharing experience for international students and representatives to see all that Canadore has to offer," said David Himmelman, Dean of Culinary Arts. "We have top-notch culinary facilities and award-winning chefs and professors. We train our students hands-on for this diverse industry that has employment opportunities around the globe."

Canadore has 19 international training and educations agreements. Students come to Canadore from all over the world including China, India, Malaysia, and the Caribbean.

"International partnerships are an important part of the health and stability of a college," said George Burton, President of Canadore College. "Forming and maintaining international relationships is good for Canadore and the City of North Bay and opens us up to new world-wide audiences."

Canadore provides access to over 65 full-time quality programs, has outstanding faculty and student services and boasts the highest graduation rate amongst the 24 public colleges in Ontario. Each year, the College graduates approximately 1,000 students and has conferred over 36,000 alumni since its doors opened.
