CSPNE set to launch three Specialist High Skills Majors

The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l'Ontario (CSPNE) is proud to announce the launching of three Specialist High Skills Majors in two of its schools in the Nipissing area.

These Majors are offered in French. A Specialist High Skills Major is a ministry-approved specialized program that allows grade 11 and grade 12 students to focus their learning on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

École secondaire publique Northern (175, Ethel Street, Sturgeon Falls)

Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

* Specialist High Skills Major in Forestry
* Specialist High Skills Major in Sports and Health Sciences

École secondaire publique Odyssée (480, Norman Ave., North Bay)

Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

* Specialist High Skills Major in Environment

A Specialist High Skills Major allows students to acquire specialized knowledge and skills based on their interests and aptitudes. A SHSM also assists students in their transition after graduation to apprenticeship training, college, university or the workplace. Odyssée and Northern's school communities, as well as the media and the general public are invited to the official launchings of these Specialist High Skills Majors.
