The Honourable Monique Smith, MPP for Nipissing joined Cynthia Roveda, Director of Education for the Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord Board and members of the Board, for the official groundbreaking of the new École élémentaire catholique Saints-Anges North Bay.

The province is investing over $8.8 million for the construction of the school in North Bay through the Good Places to Learn program.

The name “École élémentaire catholique Saints‐Anges” was recommended by a committee made up of students, parents, and staff of St‐Paul and Ste‐Anne schools. The new school will open its doors to approximately 300 students from Junior Kindergarten through to Grade 6 in September 2012.

Investing in education through new and improved schools is an important part of the McGuinty government's commitment to strengthening and improving Ontario's publicly funded education system.

“I am pleased to be included in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new École élémentaire catholique Saints‐Anges,” said Monique Smith, MPP for Nipissing. “As a former student of École St-Paul, I am excited to see what lies ahead for the future Saints-Anges students.”

“Learning and the improvement of student achievement are the priority at Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord. We strive to offer top quality education to each of the pupils entrusted to us. We are happy to welcome the children and parents of the new Saints-Anges school community into a building that is conducive to learning and ensures the well-being and safety of the pupils”, said Cynthia Roveda, Director of Education for the Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord.
