McGuninty Liberals have burdened Ontario students with record debt while subjecting them to growing class sizes, more part-time sessional teachers, and deteriorating labs and buildings. Hudak’s Conservatives have actively supported deregulated tuition policies, which led to upwards of 300% increases in fees in professional programs.

I’m concerned about what everyone is calling the “fine print” in the Conservatives “Change Book.” The fact that Canadore College of Arts and Technology is included among the government-funded agencies they will review for wasteful spending alarms me. Our educational institutions should never be passes as fine print," Giroux stated.

Cuts to school resources, loss of secure value-added jobs in Northern communities, no real investment in childcare, and a failure to deal with the province’s housing crisis have played a role in making life harder for Ontarians. It’s about time that Ontario gets straightforward and doable solutions. Giroux stated “our party has the solutions that put people first.”

Under Horwath’s plan we will tackle the Ontario high tuition rates. We will freeze the tuition fees for college, undergraduate, and graduate students over the course of the mandate. Institutions will be compensated for lost revenues. Ontario students continue to struggle with their rising debt. The NDP plan will eliminate the interest on the provincial portion of student loans. The NDP bottom line is…

We must put students first by ensuring high-quality, affordable post-secondary education.
