Lock it or lose it

Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police would like to remind residents about locking their vehicles and not leaving valuables inside of them when they are unattended.

Recently police have investigated numerous thefts from vehicles in the Novar area where thieves have entered unlocked vehicles, taking whatever valuables have been left inside.

“A vehicle with an unlocked door or an open window is an easy target.”

Police along with Almaguin Highlands Community Policing members have gone to different communities for the lock it or lose it campaign. The majority of vehicles that police checked were found to be unlocked with valuables inside. It only takes a minute to lock your car and protect your belongings.

Here are a few simple precautions:

 Always roll up your vehicle’s windows and lock the door.

 If you have a garage, use it and lock the door as well as your vehicle

 Always park your vehicle in a well-lit area.

 Never leave valuables inside your parked vehicle such as your wallet, money, etc.
