North Bay 911 receives numerous prank calls

Recently the North Bay 911 received numerous prank calls that tie up the 911 lines.

Most of these callers have been identified and disciplined, however some have occurred because people do not know that cell phones still work; when they are non registered, when there is no plan, when there are no minutes, and even when the key guard is on. 911 calls will still go through as long as the battery has any charge left in it. This is a public safety feature of 911 that most people are unaware of.

We request that old phones not be given to children to play with and that the battery is removed when a phone is replaced or disposed of.
