On Tuesday the 13th of September 2011 at approximately 3:30 p.m., as part of Project Back To School, an officer of the North Bay Police Service observed a motorcycle westbound on McKeown Avenue and locked the vehicle on RADAR at 99 km/hr in a marked 50 km/hr zone.

Upon being stopped, the 19 year old college student was sure he was only travelling at 89 km/hr and explained that he was in a hurry to get to the College to pruchase his new books. The driver of the motorcycle was issued a $359 speeding ticket as a result of the occurrence.

The public is reminded that the North Bay Police Service will be continuning efforts targeting extra enforcement in school zones within North Bay and Callander, monitoring speed and movement of traffic to help ensure the safety of students on buses, students on foot and crossing guards at intersections.
