The North Bay Police Service is beginning the second week of stepped up enforcement in school zones in North Bay and Callander, in effort to ensure the safety of our area youth as they return to school.

The first week of this Traffic Project resulted in 13 provincial offence tickets and 6 verbal warnings issued in school zones. Offences include speeding, stopping too close to school buses, parking in school bus unloading zones and 2 tickets issued in a community safety zone resulting in increased fines.

On this second week back to school, officers of the North Bay Police Service, including the Traffic Enforcement Officer and Platoon Traffic Officer, will be continuning efforts targeting extra enforcement in school zones within North Bay and Callander, monitoring speed and movement of traffic to help ensure the safety of students on buses, students on foot and crossing guards at intersections. It is the goal of the North Bay Police Service to ensure the safe and efficient movement of traffic within the City of North Bay and Callander, specifically in relation to our children returning to the new school year.
