CLOUT, Robert George - The curtain came down on the final act of the life and times of Bob Clout on Sunday, September 04, 2011. He was in his 78th year.

Produced by Donald and Helen Clout, Bob debuted in St. Catharines on January 20, 1934. He leaves behind his leading lady Pat (Chapdelaine), and in supporting roles, his children Mark (Karen), Kelly (Rick) and Barry (Maureen), as well as his grandchildren Jerri, Simonne and Meghan. On location in New Zealand is his sister Susan Read (David), and a chorus of wonderful nieces and nephews, all in St. Catharines. Bob is pre-deceased by his brother Jack (Irene), sister Laurine (Paul), brother Kim (Liz), also of St. Catharines. Included in Bob's life were many characters, extras and cameo appearances by people who played significant roles in his many adventures, comedy's, dramas and thrillers. Bob worked 34 years for Bell Canada in the Niagara Peninsula and North Bay. During this time, Bob excelled in many sports, winning batting titles in baseball, Provincial Championships in Basketball, and numerous medals in canoe racing. He was an avid fan of the Canadian Football League, attending several Grey Cups. He also enjoyed professional baseball and once attended a World Series at Yankee Stadium. Throughout his life, Bob stayed active in cross-country skiing, swimming and bicycling. Bob was coach of the Ontario Championship winning First Aid team, moving on to compete at the National level in Vancouver. As a founding member of the “Spare the Beasts of Nature“ hunting and fishing club, Bob and his buddies left many fish in many lakes. They undoubtedly solved most of life's mysteries during endless hours of vigorous debate in boats and cabins across Ontario's wilderness. As an adventurer, his feet have taken him to many interesting parts of the world, from the Queen's Garden Party at Buckingham Palace to riding elephants through the jungles of Indonesia. He had an insatiable desire for new experiences and never stopped planning for the next. His passion for adventure was contagious and is a legacy his companions will always be thankful for. Bob's acting and directing accolades are too numerous to mention. For further information, please visit www.google.com. But in all seriousness, the theatre was a huge part of Bob's life. Some highlights were sharing scenes with such luminaries as Martin Sheen and Kris Kristofferson to name only a few. Bob won the Quonta “Best Actor“ award for his role in Gateway Theatre Guild's production of “The Gin Game“. Although he was proud of his association with the big names, his heart remained close and loyal to local theatre. You know who you are ! Bob's Joie de Vivre lives on through his family. His grandchildren will fondly remember the countless hours spent with him. If one of the Clout girls was figure skating, playing any other sport, acting on stage or playing an instrument, a proud and adoring “Poppa“ became the audience and they his shining stars. Family was number one with Poppa.

To celebrate Bob's life, a reception will be held at The Capitol Centre in North Bay on Saturday, September 10th, 2 pm until 5 pm. An additional event will be held at the Bridgewater Country Club in Fort Erie on Saturday, September 24th, 2 pm until 5 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of the organizations that performed work close to Bob's heart, which include: The Humane Society of North Bay, The Gateway Theatre Guild, Doctors Without Borders and the World Wildlife Federation.

Now cracks a noble heart. Goodnight, sweet prince; and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest
