The Nipissing Transition House filmed a domestic violence public awareness video yesterday in North Bay. While the set was closed, the location was at 63 Cedar Heights on a gravel access road owned by Ontera.

The premise of the spot is of a forlorn female central character fleeing domestic violence walking and running away from the viewer until the welcoming touch of a caring individual causes her to stop, turn, and see that many others are traveling with her, and are there to help her on her journey.

Production of a 30 and 60 second version of the video is being undertaken by TWG Communications of North Bay. Filming and editing is being handled by Regan Pictures also of North Bay.

“We had about 45 women who volunteered their day to support our message that women in situations of domestic violence are not alone and that there is a community of caring and supportive women, agencies and organizations ready to help”, said Janine Lafreniere of the the Nipissing Transition House. “Bringing awareness of this issue is a big part of our mandate and an excellent way to let women know there is help at hand.”

Filming took place over a two day period and despite the overcast and wet weather, filming wrapped up on schedule.

“We have worked with the Nipissing Transition House in the past and we are honoured to be working with them again”, said William Ferguson, TWG V.P. Creative. “This is such an important issue and a difficult one to capture in 30 or 60 seconds. We look forward now to the launch of the video.”

Next steps involve editing, sound design, colour treatments and the addition of text elements. More information regarding the launch and release of the video will follow in the next few weeks.
