Canadore is holding its Convocation Ceremonies for programs in the Schools of Communication Arts, Health Sciences, Information Technology, Skilled Trades and Preparatory Programs on August 26.

Guest speaker Marianne Bérubé, Executive Director of Ontario Wood WORKS!, will be speaking to approximately 175 graduates.

Eleven years ago, Marianne helped to build Wood WORKS! from a small pilot program into the provincial initiative it is today. She works passionately to advocate the use of wood products and provides technical resources and information to architects, engineers, building officials, educators and all levels of government. Marianne holds degrees in Environmental Science, Business, Professional Management and Certified Investment Management from Nipissing University and York University. Her efforts have been recognized with an Influential Women's Award given by Northern Ontario Business, with the Chairman's Award granted by CIBC and with the Ontario's Forest Sector Champion Award from the Ontario Forest Industries Association.

"Marianne truly engenders the spirit of success. During a time where odds were stacked against the forestry sector, she was able to reinvent this traditional industry," said George Burton, President of Canadore College. "Her tireless work to raise the profile of the wood products industry is a wonderful example of how to harness evolving trends in today's economy."

Canadore is very proud of all its graduates for their accomplishments and for achieving their education goals. Each year, the College graduates approximately 1,000 students. Canadore has conferred over 36,000 alumni since its doors opened.

The ceremonies are being held at the College Drive Campus (100 College Drive) on August 26 at 10 a.m.
