A dark, stark, yet passionate version of Jesus Christ Superstar! We are looking for 50 committed adults and teens to join us on this adventure!

Auditions: Wednesday, August 24-Friday, August 26th; 4-9pm.
Callbacks: Saturday, August 27th, 10-3pm; Sunday, August 28th, 10-12pm

Jesus -(low Bb to high E) -Resolved but questioning of the next seven days of his life; quiet stillness onstage with moments of great passion and power.

Judas - (low D to high E) -Mentor to Jesus and coordinator of his movement; disillusioned with Jesus' new direction; passionate singer /actor.

Mary -(Alto/Folk; low G# to B) -Steadfast supporter of Jesus; caring towards Judas. Empathetic.

Pontius Pilate -(low A to Bb) -Sensitive, spiritual, intellectual.

Herod -(low B to high B) Can be played a few different ways; pompous; spoiled; immature. Comedic role.

Caiphas -(Bass -low C to middle F) Ideally a true bass; dark and devious head of a cultish group of priests.

Annas -(low F to C#) Slightly crazed priest; Caiphas' side-kick;

The Priests
-3 Male/Females -One of whom has solo lines in "Peter's Denial"; featured in "This Jesus Must Die" ; "Blood Money".


Apostles

-Peter-Head apostle; loving towards Jesus, yet denies him in the end.

-Simon Zelotes -(Possibly cast as a woman) Militaristic; a zealot!

-James (Teen) -Young, aggressive

-9 additional Male Apostles -Dedicated to Jesus; we're looking for strong singers who can move well.

- Featured in "What's the Buzz", "Hosanna"and "Last Supper"

The Women

-10 Females -Equally dedicated to the 'cause'. Featured in "What's the Buzz", "Hosanna" "Jesus Christ Superstar"; Strong singers who must move well.

-Some of these females will also be featured in "King Herod's Song" (Dancers)

Ensemble

-10-15 Female and Males -Versatile group who are featured in "Overture"; "Hosanna", "The Temple"; "Make Us Well"; "Trial by Pilate".

-Some of the ensemble will have solo vocal lines in Peter's Denial; Mob Scene ("Tell Me Christ How'll You'll Die Tonight")

-Some of the ensemble will be featured in "King Herod's Song" (Dancers)

Angels
-3-5 children (Ages 8-14) Strong singers that will sing "John 19:41" both at beginning and end of show;
- also in "Hosanna" and "The Temple" and Judas' tormentors.

Guards
-3-5 Both Jerusalem/Roman guards. Must be able to move well (some stage combat)
