Kapuskasing man arrested in Project “P” child pornography investigation

KAPUSKASING - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Section (Project “P”), OPP Electronic Crime Section, Toronto Police Service and Kapuskasing OPP have arrested and charged a Kapuskasing man following a child pornography investigation.

On August 17, 2011 police executed a search warrant at a Kapuskasing residence after receiving information that the occupant authored and published a novel meeting the written definition of Child Pornography in the Criminal Code of Canada. During the course of the search warrant execution a computer was seized containing images of child sexual abuse.

On August 17, 2011 police arrested 57 year-old William Robert (Rob) WILLIAMSON, of Kapuskasing, Ontario. He is charged with one count of Distribute Obscene Matter, one count of Possession of Obscene Matter for the Purpose of Publication, one count of Make Obscene Matter, one count of Conspire to Commit the Indictable Offence of Distribute Obscene Matter, Conspire to Commit the Indictable Offence of Make Obscene Matter and two counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

The accused will appear for a bail hearing on August 19, 2011 in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, Ontario.

The investigation is continuing.
