Ontario is helping to launch a variety store in Chisholm Township, creating five new jobs.

With $75,000 in support from the province through the NOHFC’s Northern Ontario Entrepreneur Program, the Chisholm Country Market and Feed is renovating its new premises and installing new gas pumps. The location will serve as a convenience, fuel and feed store for the community and surrounding areas.

Partnering with companies in Northern Ontario communities is part of the McGuinty government’s plan to create and support jobs for Ontario families and to strengthen local economies.

“It is projects like the new Chisholm Country Market and Feed that help our Northern economy to continue to grow and thrive,” said Monique Smith, MPP for Nipissing. “These new jobs are a welcome addition to Chisholm.”

“Over the years the NOHFC has continuously invested in entrepreneurs, and we are happy to do so again today. Our government recognizes that these small business ventures are key to the development of Northern Ontario,” said Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry and Chair of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Committee (NOHFC).

"We're grateful to the NOHFC board for their vote of confidence not just in our venture but in the people of Chisholm Township which has made this a reality," said owner Clint Litster. "We look forward to the opportunity to try to improve the quality of life for residents here and showcase the best Chisholm has to offer."
