How do you get to see Matt Dusk, Rita Chiarelli, Rich Underhill, Jane Bunnett, and over a dozen other jazz artists for free? By being a volunteer with the Jazz Sudbury Festival!

The third edition of the annual festival is being held September 8th to 11th on the grounds of Science North. Festival organizers are looking for volunteers to fill a number of roles, including site maintenance and management, food preparation, as well as general runners.

People who do volunteer will receive an official volunteer garment, lunch if their shift is longer than 3 hours and an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party after the festival.

“It’s a great way to spend a weekend, meet people, including the artists, and get to experience live jazz, “ says Carmen Simmons, Executive Director of the Sudbury Community Foundation, which oversees the Jazz Sudbury Festival. “Our volunteers are such an important part of the festival, so we want them to have lots of fun while they give us some of their time.”

To volunteer or for more information, contact the Sudbury Community Foundation at 705-673-7770 or download our 2011 Volunteer Package at www.jazzsudbury.ca/get-involved/.

Don’t forget, festival organizers are also offering a special group rate for individuals, businesses, and organizations which purchase 20 or more tickets and/or passes.

Anyone buying 20 or more tickets/passes will receive a 20 per cent discount on each ticket or pass purchased (not including the jazz cruises or the pre-festival film screening Thurday, September 8th).
