Almaguin OPP laid 78 charges over the long weekend

Almaguin Highlands – During the Civic Long Weekend, the Almaguin Highlands detachment partnered with the North East Region Traffic and SAVE Units to ensure area highways and waterways were safe for all users. 78 charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence Act, Off Road Vehicle Act, Small Vessels Regulations and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The Almaguin Highlands Detachment and North East Region Traffic Unit continues to investigate an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle in the Kearney area in the early morning hours of July 31st 2011. A male adult was taken to hospital and released after suffering non-life threatening injuries.

Overall, the Almaguin Highlands OPP detachment reports a relatively safe weekend, with no other injury related collisions or incidents. Thanks to those whom behaved and operated their motor vehicles, vessels and All Terrain Vehicles responsibly.
