Senior citizen scammed in Sundridge

Sundridge - On Thursday, July 28th, 2011 a Sundridge senior received a phone call from a male person, claiming to be her bank manager. She was instructed to withdraw a large sum of money from her account, attend the parking lot beside the Caswell Hotel on Main Street in Sundridge and hand the money to a male person.

The male told her the purpose of this was to help the bank solve an internal problem.

The male was described as
• Caucasian
• 40-45 years old
• approx. 5'6"
• average build
• clean shaven
• wearing a dark colored button up shirt and a dark colored ball cap

The male was on foot when he took the money.


The OPP is asking for the public’s assistance in this case by either calling the detachment or Crimestoppers with any information.

The public is also reminded to be very cautious when receiving phone calls where the caller requests personal, banking or credit card information.
