OPP investigating Magnetawan fire

Magnetawan – The Ontario Provincial Police were called to a fire in the Municipality of Magnetawan on the 30th of July, 2011 shortly before 2:00 am.

Upon arrival the Magnetawan General Store was found to be engulfed in flames and the Magnetawan Fire Department was on scene.

The fire also spread to the Magnetawan Restaurant and Inn located next door. Both buildings were empty at the time of the fire though a Provincial Constable of the Almaguin Highlands detachment did have to go in and remove somebody from the restaurant after they went back inside.

The Almaguin Highlands detachment continues to investigate the incident with the assistance of the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office.
