Severe thunderstorm watch in effect Update

As of 8:57 PM EDT Friday July 29th Environment Canada ended the Severe thunderstorm warning for
North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa and West Nipissing - French River areas.

As of 8:01 PM EDT Friday July 29th Environment Canada issued the following Severe thunderstorm warning for
North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa and West Nipissing - French River areas.

Strong thunderstorms are affecting the North Bay area at 8 PM. Timmins airport had reported a gust of near 90 km/h earlier today. Some of these thunderstorms can approach severe limits early this evening. Large hail of 2-3 cm. Gusty winds to 110 km/h and heavy downpours are possible with these thunderstorms.

These thunderstorms are moving southeastward at 60 km/h.

Severe thunderstorms are imminent or occurring in the area. These storms may produce large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall. Remember that some severe thunderstorms can also produce tornadoes.

Monitor weather conditions and take immediate safety precautions if threatening weather approaches

As of 4:13 PM EDT Friday July 29th Environment Canada issued the following Severe thunderstorm watch for
North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa and West Nipissing - French River areas.

Strong thunderstorms have developed this afternoon and some of them may approach severe limits. Main threats are large hail and strong gusty winds. Frequent lightning and heavy downpours are also possible with these thunderstorms.

This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall..Monitor weather conditions and listen for updated bulletins.
