Greening Nipissing's current project is focused around storm water reduction and pollution mineralization through the use of rain gardens. For this project Greening Nipissing will be implementing two demonstration rain gardens in downtown North Bay.
Greening Nipissing is presently seeking plant donations for the demonstration rain gardens. In particular, Greening Nipissing is seeking deep rooted perennials. Plants may be dry tolerant, moist to dry tolerant
and/or average moisture tolerant. Contrary to popular belief rain gardens do not utilize wetland species as the water entering the garden only remains there for a short period of time.
