NEW FIRES - One new fire was reported in the Northeast Region on Thursday, July 7. North Bay 19 is a human-caused fire and is out at 0.1 hectares. It was reported on Cross Lake.

No new fires were reported by the evening of July 8.

ACTIVE FIRES - An additional two fires are active in the region. Kirkland Lake 7 is under control at 2.0 hectares. It was reported east of Englehart. Cochrane 6 is a lightning-caused fire and is being observed at 500.0 hectares. It was reported southwest of Kashechewan.

FIRE HAZARD - The fire hazard in the Northeast Region is low to moderate. The hazard is expected to be moderate to high by tomorrow due to higher temperatures and drying conditions.

SAFETY MESSAGE - Planning on enjoying a campfire this weekend? Keep your fire small, build it on bare rock or dirt, never leave it unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving the site. Drown! Stir! Drown!
