Multijurisdictional police chase ends with arrest of two Toronto men

North Bay - On July the 8th around 4am North Bay OPP were requested to assist the West Nipissing Police Service in stopping a vehicle that was eastbound on highway 17 at speeds of over 190km/h. The vehicle refused to stop for police. North Bay OPP deployed a spike belt which the stolen vehicle ran over and then continued south. The vehicle was stopped when it entered the ditch at the Clarke St entrance to Powassan.

ERT members and OPP canine tracked the suspects into the wooded area.

Arrested was 18 year old Vladimar TCHERZOV of Toronto.

A second subject was picked up by a passing motorist and driven to Burks Falls. Moments later 18 year old Yaman AL-JUNDI of Toronto was arrested by Almaguin Highlands OPP officers.

The vehicle was stolen from the Toronto area earlier on the 07July2011.

Both subjects are charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Failing to Stop for Police. They will be held in police custody pending further investigation by OPP and Toronto Police Service.

A bail hearing will be scheduled for Monday 11July.
