Fatal MVC in Sundridge under investigation

Sundridge - On Wednesday the 22nd of June 2011 at approximately 12:33 pm, Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police were called to a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred at John Street and Highway #11 in Sundridge. A south bound Kennworth tractor trailer collided with a westbound Dodge Journey van. This intersection is controlled by traffic lights. The driver of the van was transported to Hunstville hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased is Ben Rich 47 years old of Powassan. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured, however the female passenger is being treated for minor injuries at Huntsville Hospital.

This motor vehicle collision is still under investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police.

The post mortem is scheduled for Thursday the 23rd of June 2011 at 7:00 am at South Muskoka Hospital in Bracebridge.

The highway has since opened.
