The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board is pleased to share the results of the Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).

Of the first time eligible students at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School, 84 per cent were successful on the test, scoring above the province’s 83 per cent. Among our previously eligible students, 61 per cent were successful, also above the province’s 49 per cent.

SJSH boys and girls achieved very similar success rates. Amongst our first time eligible, fully participating students, 85 per cent of girls and 82 per cent of boys were successful on the test.

“The success of our strategies at both the professional development and classroom instruction levels, particularly in boys’ literacy, is reflected in these results,” said Anna Marie Bitonti, Director of Education. “We will continue in the direction of our Board Improvement Plan to maintain the momentum of student achievement in all areas. We extend our deep appreciation to NPSC teaching and support staff for their ongoing commitment and support in meeting the needs of all NPSC students.”
