Canadore adds new program to fall line up

Canadore is pleased to announce that the new Financial Services program was approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities for delivery in the Fall 2012 semester.

The College recently developed program curriculum in response to an identified training need within the country's financial sector. "We worked with an enthusiastic group of industry stakeholders in the development of this new program," said David Himmelman, Dean of Business. "There is no other program like it delivered in northern Ontario and the forecasted demand for individuals with these skills is high both in our region and across the country."

Financial Services is a one-year, post-graduate program that will provide students with employable skills and prepare them for a career in the largest industry in Canada. Jobs within the growing financial sector are in high demand. Graduates will earn proficiencies in personal financial management, income tax laws, financial planning, estate planning and retirement.

"We are very excited to offer a new program in an area that has the capacity for new skilled workers. Canadore is dedicated to providing relevant and quality programming to its students by being proactive to changing market demands and employer needs, and we look forward to launching more new programming in the near future," said Canadore President George Burton.

Four other programs are awaiting approval from the MTCU:

* Environmental Management
* Indigenous Pre-Health Studies
* Indigenous Preparatory Studies
* Public Relations

Canadore College has over 65 full-time quality programs, outstanding faculty and student services and boasts the highest graduation rate amongst the 24 public colleges in Ontario.
