One new fire was reported in the Northeast Region on Saturday, June 4. Sudbury 19 was reported east of Val Caron and is out. No new fires were reported by the evening of June 5.

Sunday there was a high pressure moving in the Northeast Region from west to east during the day, taking scattered showers with it. Western parts of the region will see sunshine with temperatures in the low 20's. Winds will be light to moderate.

Sunday, three additional 20-packs will be deployed to Alberta from Ontario. One 20-pack will be representing the Northeast Region. The crews are from Wawa (1), Chapleau (2) and Cochrane (2) districts.

When cleaning up wood and grass debris, the ministry suggests composting, chipping or taking debris to a landfill site instead of burning. If you still decide to burn debris, residents are reminded that they are required to follow safe outdoor fire guidelines. In particular, there are restrictions on day burning of brush and grass.

Fires are to be started no sooner than two hours before sunset, be extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise, attended at all times and put dead out before leaving.

If you live within a municipality, contact your local municipal office or fire department BEFORE burning.
