On Friday, June 3rd, people in North Bay will be joining together to pick a fight with cancer! For one night, thousands of people – cancer survivors and their friends, families, co-workers and a host of other participants and volunteers – will come together at CFB Soccer Field for the Canadian Cancer Society’s signature event, the 11th annual Relay For Life.

Relay For Life is more than a fundraiser…it’s a life-changing experience; an opportunity to bring family and friends together to join cancer fighters and survivors to celebrate in their shared commitment to fight back against this disease.

Relay For Life begins at 7 p.m. with The Survivors’ Victory Lap – hundreds of cancer survivors leading the way around the track to celebrate their courage and strength. This first lap of Relay for Life offers hope and encouragement to those who are still fighting cancer and to everyone who is determined to fight for life.

Another special Relay For Life moment will take place at 10 p.m. when thousands of luminaries will light up the night. Each candle bears the name of a cancer survivor or someone who has lost their battle with cancer. The luminaries provide light and motivation to participants throughout the night. At midnight, participants pledge to continue to fight against cancer during the inspiring Fight Back ceremony, which commits to celebrating, remembering and fighting back 365 days a year. Music and activities continue throughout the night.
