Traffic stop leads to drug charges

On Saturday, May 28th, 2011 at approximately 11 a.m., a Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting patrol in the town of Mattawa when he stopped a motor vehicle.

The traffic stop resulted in the officer locating over $4,500 of suspected marihuana. The driver, Danny TURCOTTE, 31 years old of Mattawa, Ontario is charged with:

- Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana - over 30 grams as per Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) s. 4(1);

- Trafficking Schedule II - Cannabis Marihuana under 3 kilograms as per CDSA s. 5(1) and with

- Possession for the Purpose Schedule II under 3 kg as per CDSA s. 5(2).

TURCOTTE is schedule to appear for court in Mattawa on July 6th, 2011.
