Canadore College would like to acknowledge the concerns of our West Nipissing students regarding the change in their program and service delivery beginning in September 2011.

Due to a substantial province-wide decrease in government funding for Ontario Basic Skills (OBS) and Literacy Basic Skills (LBS) programming, delivery agents for these programs are now being faced with the reality of having to reduce operations and services.

As the only institution to offer these programs in the region, the College is working diligently to incorporate alternate solutions for its students through the use of technology and various delivery methods.

Second Career and Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) Service Agreement funding programs may provide allowances to cover additional travel and miscellaneous costs for sponsored individuals should they be incurred.

Canadore and other northern colleges are hopeful that upcoming meetings with Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities staff will help to find solutions to this community issue.
