North Bay – On Tuesday, Elections Canada concluded the judicial recount process for the riding of Nipissing‐Timiskaming. The process confirmed the results from May 2nd.

“The election is now behind us and it is time for all constituents to set aside our partisan differences and work with our new MP to do what is best for Nipissing‐Timiskaming and Canada” said Rota shortly after receiving the news.

“It has been an honour to serve as the federal representative for this riding since 2004, and I am
extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish over the past seven years. I wish nothing but the best to my successor, Mr. Aspin.”

Mr. Rota who was first elected as a Member of Paul Martin’s Liberal government in 2004, and went on to win two more elections in 2006 and 2008, says that what he’ll miss most is helping his constituents overcome obstacles or challenging circumstances.

“My fondest memories,” says Mr. Rota, “aren’t necessarily related to actions that grabbed headlines, but rather those that had the most direct effect on the people I represented.”

Mr. Rota says that he is looking forward to spending more time with his wife Chantal, and daughter Samantha. “Throughout my time as MP, my family has demonstrated an incredible amount of patience, love and support, despite the fact that my job required me to spend so much time in Ottawa,” says Mr. Rota.

“I am genuinely excited at the prospect of pursuing new challenges, which will allow me to remain committed to playing an active role in the community that my family and I are so proudn to call home.”
