Nipissing Township celebrates upgraded fitness centre

On Friday morning, the honourable Monique Smith, MPP for Nipissing, joined the Township of Nipissing Mayor, Pat Haufe and members of the community to celebrate a new community resource. Thanks to a $16,800 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), the township has been able to purchase new equipment for their Fitness Centre located at the Community Centre on Hwy 654.

“The new equipment at the Nipissing Township Fitness Centre offers community members a great way to stay active year round,” said Monique Smith, MPP for Nipissing. “I am pleased to celebrate this new and improved fitness centre with the Township of Nipissing.”

With Foundation funding, the township has been able to purchase three treadmills, two elliptical trainer units, two recumbent bikes and one powerplate for the fitness centre. This new equipment will support the fitness needs of all users, including those with special needs.
