During the week of May 1 to May 6, the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board will celebrate what Catholic Education means to our students, our community and to the province. The theme for this year’s Catholic Education Week is Celebrating the Spirit.

“As human beings we find many reasons to celebrate. We celebrate births, marriages, friendship, academics, athletics, and graduation,” said Director of Education, Anna Marie Bitonti. “Catholic Education, grounded in the Gospel values, has reason to celebrate the Spirit, which supports and sustains our system of learning excellence.”

There are five sub-themes - one for each day of Catholic Education Week - and they are aimed at helping staff and students understand more clearly what it means to ‘Celebrate the Spirit.’

Day 1: The Spirit of Hospitality
Day 2: The Spirit of Understanding
Day 3: The Spirit of Wisdom
Day 4: The Spirit of Justice
Day 5: The Spirit of Gratitude

Catholic Education Week is marked by special activities in all NPSC schools, including prayer and faith celebrations. We invite the community to visit our schools and to participate in any of our activities as we celebrate Catholic Education Week 2011.
