The Flood Warning issued at 1500 hours on April 29, 2011 for the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority watershed has ended, with the exception of the low-lying areas around Lake Nipissing.

Weekend conditions were favourable for the decrease in water levels in area watercourses. Water levels are expected to decrease through the week as the five day forecast is predicting only 1 to 2 millimetres of precipitation through to Friday.

In terms of Lake Nipissing, the joint flood advisory issued by North Bay District Ministry of Natural Resources and the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority for low lying areas around Lake Nipissing and the French River remains in effect.

As water levels remain higher than normal, the public is urged to use extreme caution around all watercourses. Parents and caregivers are advised to keep children away from all waterways. Areas around dams, culverts, bridges and fast flowing ditches should be avoided at all times.

Staff at the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority will continue to monitor the current and forecasted weather conditions.
