This year, Ontario’s Summer Jobs Service will help create about 4,200 summer jobs for students in the North; helping provide opportunities for students to turn their passion into a summer job and gain important work experience.
The Summer Jobs Service provides a $2-per-hour incentive to encourage employers to hire students. This is one of several Ontario Summer Jobs Programs that connect students to jobs in the private sector or government and offer support to help young entrepreneurs launch their own summer business.

Students aged 15 to 30 who are planning to return to school in the fall are eligible. The summer jobs program is part of the Open Ontario plan to help every student succeed for the future.

QUOTES

“These programs can help students gain valuable experience and enrich their learning. They also provide valuable mentoring experiences for employers and contribute to building a strong skills base for the future needs of the North’s economy.”

— Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry

“Summer jobs let students discover the workplace and explore their passion and talents. These jobs help young people make money for their studies, and contribute to Ontario's overall future.”

— John Milloy, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities
