The Family Enrichment Program, housed in John XXIII School, celebrated 30 years of service on Wednesday.
Volunteers from the program’s past and present were on hand, including Sister Beatrice Gallipeau (right) who, in 1980, presented the original proposal to iniate the program in North Bay, and Sister Margaret Smith (center), who recruited then‐St. Joseph Hospital Board members to sponsor it.

Jane Meil(left), Director of the Family Enrichment Program and recent recipient of the Leading Women/Leading Girls Building Communities Recognition Certificate from the Ontario government, and the program staff, were commended for sustaining the program’s quality, service, and values by guests and local dignitaries.

“It is so nice to see so many faces today who were a part of this great program,” said Meil. “You all touched the lives of many families over the past 30 years.”

The Family Enrichment Program offers support, guidance, and education in a warm and positive environment. Both parent and child are given opportunities to socialize with peers, connections with other services in the community, a free ride to and from the program, a breakfast program, a clothing exchange depot, and a library.

It is sponsored by the Catholic Schools Foundaon of Nipissing‐Parry Sound, and funded by the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board and the Nipissing‐Parry Sound Catholic District School Board.
