Moffat appointed NNDSB interim Director of Education

The Near North District School Board announces that Paul Moffat has been appointed to the position of interim Director of Education. Mr. Moffat will serve from April 1, 2011 until August 31, 2011, as the Board seeks a permanent replacement for the position of Director of Education.
Mr. Moffat’s interim role with the Near North District School Board will include a number of functions: serve as Secretary to the Board of Trustees work closely with all staff to ensure a smooth transition for a full time director ensure the 2010-2011 school year finishes on a highly successful note work with a variety of dedicated people to deal with ongoing initiatives including:

o the completion of Almaguin Highlands Secondary School,

o the building of a new elementary school in Parry Sound,

o addressing staffing related to the 2011-2012 school year projected school enrolment figures,

o ensuring that the Board has continuing ongoing program support as a result of staff retirements, transfers and secondments,

o student accommodation, maintenance and building initiatives, and

o educational and informational technology and human resources.

“I look forward to balancing the challenges and with support from a very strong network of committed people, arriving at decisions that allow the Board to continue to move in a positive direction,” said interim director Paul Moffat.

Paul Moffat has been involved in education in Ontario for over 40 years. In the predecessor Nipissing Board of Education, his duties included Classroom Teacher, Vice Principal, Principal, and Superintendent of Schools. Most recently, Paul served as a Nipissing University Faculty Advisor for Bachelor of Education students.
