13 individuals face 48 drug charges in undercover operation

Almaguin Highlands - The Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau - North, Drug Enforcement Unit and the Almaguin Highlands OPP have charged 13 individuals with drug related offences following early morning arrests conducted in the communities of Burk's Falls, Sundridge and South River on Thursday March 31st, 2011.

The charges stem from a four month long undercover investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Almaguin Highlands OPP.

The investigation, code named Project NOX, focused on infiltrating street level prescription pill traffickers operating in the communities of Burk's Falls, Sundridge and South River. An undercover officer was successful in infiltrating local traffickers and making numerous purchases.

Thirteen individuals have been charged with 48 drug related offences.

Oxycodone, methadone, fentanyl patches and marihuana was purchased. The street value of the drugs purchased is $5,000.00.
