Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca is delighted with the announcement in the provincial budget today, of $257 million in new funding over three years aimed at child and youth mental health. The investment of $76 million
this year, $88 million in 2012/2013 and $93 million in 2013/2014 will serve thousands of children, youth and their families.

Hands serves more then 6000 families across the region including dedicated services in child and youth mental health, which includes crisis, counselling, school, in-home and residential treatment programs.

“This is a very welcome investment, and we’re grateful the province has recognized the mental health needs of young people today in our community and across the province”, said Jeffrey Hawkins, Executive Director of Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca.

We look forward to working with the government to ensure that children, youth and their families are able to get the help they need, and that Hands can continue to provide excellent care to the children, youth and families we serve. “Additional funding will ensure we see more children and youth needing help and that the quality of care they receive will remain excellent” said Hawkins.
