Interested in Humanity and Human Rights, Violence in Society, or Sex and Money? Perhaps Politics and Religion or The Doors of Perception awaken your imagination. These are just some of the presentations taking place at Nipissing University’s annual Undergraduate Research Conference, April 1 and 2.

Nipissing students will discuss their academic research through poster presentations, grouped paper presentations and panel presentations. The conference highlights the opportunities that exist for undergraduate students at Nipissing to perform high-level research while celebrating the significant contributions their work makes to their academic field of study.

Dr. Pierre Zundel, president of the University of Sudbury, will give the keynote address, titled A Case for the Importance of Big Ideas: Does it Matter What You Think, on Friday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Vittorio Fedeli Business Centre (room F210).

Saturday’s events run from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. in room A246 and classrooms in that vicinity. The day is organized around concurrent sessions of grouped presentations.

“One of the defining features that sets Nipissing apart from larger institutions is the fact that there is significant opportunity here for undergraduate students to conduct research,” said Dr. David Tabachnick, professor of political science at Nipissing and conference organizer. “I’m very impressed by the high quality research that is being conducted here and that will be on display at this conference.”

The Undergraduate Research Conference is open to the public and is free of charge.
