JAMES Township – On March 17th, 2011, shortly after 1:00am, a citizen contacted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) after the discovery of a deceased male party was made near the Town of Elk Lake.

An investigation was commenced under the direction of Detective Inspector Paul McCRICKARD of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Other Units assisting with the investigation include; OPP Crime Unit members from North East and North West Regions and members of the Forensic Identification Unit, North Bay.

The deceased has been identified as 32 year old Christopher JEAN of Thunder Bay. His death was a result of a homicide.

The OPP has charged Dwane TURK, 55 years, also of the Thunder Bay area, with Second Degree Murder in relation to this investigation.

Both the accused and the victim resided in the Thunder Bay area. They also, on occasion, worked together in the Elk Lake area of northern Ontario.

Investigators are asking for any information relating to this incident from members of the public in both areas of the Province who knew these individuals.
