James Township - On March 17th, 2011, at shortly after 1:00am, a citizen contacted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) after the discovery of a deceased male party was made near the Town of Elk Lake.

After a post mortem examination completed at Sudbury Regional Hospital today, the deceased has been positively identified as 32 year old Christopher JEAN of Thunder Bay. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Dwane TURK, age 55, also of the Thunder Bay area, has been charged with Second Degree Murder in relation to the death. TURK has been remanded into custody until his next court appearance on April 1st, 2011 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Temiskaming Shores.

The JEAN family has been notified and they have requested privacy as they deal with the news of Christopher’s death.

OPP Criminal Investigation Branch is leading the investigation under the direction of Detective Inspector Paul McCRICKARD. Other Units assisting with the investigation include; OPP Crime Unit members from North East and North West Regions and members of the Forensic Identification Unit, North Bay.
