North Bay’s Jane Meil was recognized today for her outstanding community service and helping to improve the lives of young women and families.

Jane Meil, Director of the Family Enrichment Program is receiving the Leading Women/Leading Girls, Building Communities Recognition Certificate from the Ontario government.

The annual award honours women and girls who actively demonstrate excellent leadership in areas such as athletics, international work, civic projects and school initiatives. Jane Meil was nominated by Nipissing MPP, Monique Smith.

Each year from March 6 to 12, Ontario recognizes International Women’s Week, a global celebration that draws attention to women's economic, political and social achievements.

“I was delighted to nominate Jane Meil for the award, for all of her outstanding work in our community, and the impact she has had on many local women over many years,” said MPP Smith.

“Women and girls across the province help to make Ontario communities stronger through their leadership roles. During International Women’s Week, we recognize the achievements of women and girls and the difference they make in the lives of others,” said Laurel Broten, Minister Responsible for Women’s Issues.
