The City of North Bay and the North Bay Municipal Heritage Committee invites all North Bay residents to commemorate the 2011 Ontario Heritage Week, occurring February 21-27th 2011.

During Ontario Heritage Week, residents are encouraged to recognize the people and events that have shaped North Bay. The Heritage Committee’s Illustrative Guide provides a summary of many of the properties that reflect the community’s history and includes a walking tour of properties located in the historic downtown core and surrounding neighbourhoods. The Illustrative Guide is available online at: http://www.cityofnorthbay.ca/common/pdf/planning_illusrative_guide.pdf. Please note that many of the sites in the Illustrative Guide are privately owned and are not open to the public.

The Municipal Heritage Committee has several exciting projects for residents to watch for in 2011, such as the unveiling of three heritage commemoration plaques and an interactive map of heritage properties.

The North Bay Municipal Heritage Committee is made up of community volunteers appointed by North Bay City Council. Established by Municipal By-law No. 38-96 in 1996, the Committee’s mandate is to advise and assist Council on matters related to heritage places and buildings.
