OPP hand out four impaired charges

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers of the North Bay Detachment cluster have charged four individuals for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle in less than two weeks.

On January 18, 2011 at approximately 2:20 a.m., a North Bay OPP officer observed a motorist proceeding through a red traffic light at the McKeown and Algonquin Avenue intersection. The vehicle failed to stop for the officer and was followed to a business parking lot on Stockdale Avenue where he was arrested. David JENKINS, 35 years old, of North Bay was charged with Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle s. 253 (1) (a) and with Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content s. 253 (1)(b) of the Criminal Code. JENKINS appeared for court in North Bay on February 1, 2011.

On January 22, 2011 at approximately 11 p.m., OPP officers were conducting RIDE as part of a RIDE Grant paid duty in Bonfield Township. As a result, Pierre Joseph CAUVIER, 41 years old of Bonfield Township was charged with Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content s. 253(1) (b) of the Criminal Code and had his vehicle towed and impounded for seven days. CAUVIER is scheduled to appear for court in North Bay on February 15, 2011.

On January 28, 2011 just before 9:30 p.m., Powassan OPP officers responded to a motor vehicle collision in the northbound lane near Exit 316 on Highway 11 in the Municipality of Powassan. The driver, J-Randal McNICOLL, 45 years old of Hamilton, Ontario suffered no injuries. As a result of the investigation, McNICOLL was charged with Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle s. 253 (1) (a); Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content s. 253 (1) (b) of the Criminal Code; Drive motor vehicle with speed measuring warning device as per s. 79(2) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and with Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available as per s. 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act (LLA). McNICOLL is scheduled to appear for court in North Bay on February 22, 2011.

On January 29, 2011 at approximately 2:30 a.m., a North Bay OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling over the centre line and failing to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Douglas and High Street in the city of North Bay. Through further investigation, Victoria CASSIDY, 45 years old of North Bay, was charged with Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle, s. 253(1) (a) and with Fail to accompany peace officer for Breath Sample as per s. 254(5) of the Criminal Code. Her vehicle was towed and impounded for seven (7) days. CASSIDY is scheduled to appear for court in North Bay on February 22, 2011.
