News Release

For over 115 years, The Salvation Army has been battling against one of our countries largest foes -- poverty. Unfortunately it is a difficult challenge to overcome on our own.

We are proud to announce that our community has exceeded our goal of $180,000. We raised about $97,000 though our Kettle Campaign and approximately $100,000 through our Letter Campaign, totalling around $197,000.

All monies go to our Family Services to provide to help to the needy in our community with Food, clothing, furniture, household goods, emergency transportation, school lunches, summer camp, Gospel Fellowship Cafe, life skills workshop, etc.

The Salvation Army would like to extend our gratitude to all the Businesses, which allowed us to place Kettle stands at their location, including; Metro, Jeff & Tanis' No Frills, Walmart, Dollar's Your Independent Grocer, Price Chopper's, Food Basics, LCBO Algonquin, Sobey's, Canadian Tire, Mike and Lori's No Frills, LCBO Worthington St., Deegan's Shoe Store and the DIA.

We would also like to thank all wonderful individuals and groups who donated their time to attend one or more of our Kettles, including; Frank Atwood, Collin Thacker, Peni Langlois, Bill Blumson, Terry O'Connor, Bailey Letcher, Allen Dayes, Nipissing University Nursing Student, Ferris Lions Club, Bell Telephone Pioneers/North Bay Bell Volunteers, North Bay Kiwanis Club, Christ Anglican Church, Margrett Lunney, Assante Wealth Management, Multicultural Centre, Howe Saunders, Bonnie and Steve Kirkey at Grant Thorton, Monique Smith, Rotary Club of North Bay, Lee-Anne Whitney, Odyssee Students, Century 21, George Stockfish, and many more.

The Salvation Army would like to thank Chippewa, Tweedsmuir, Alliance, King George, Vincent Massey, Dr. McDougall, St. Hubert schools, and Cassell Arms, who have shown us, through an expression of love, how enthusiastic they are about ending hunger in our community, holding food drives that allows us to help others through our Emergency Food Resource. Also, we would like to thank Boards Honey Farm for donating their wonderful honey for our Christmas Hampers and buns for our Christmas Dinner.

Without help from volunteers, The Salvation Army would not be able to help those in need in our community. Again we would like to extend our sincerest thanks to all the community and partners for all hard work and support for The Salvation Army in North Bay.
