Callander Mayor set to host first big party of 2011

Tickets are now available for the annual Mayor’s Heritage Ball and Auction in Callander, Ontario. Slated for Saturday, February 12, 2011, all proceeds from this year’s event will support Callander’s 125th Anniversary Celebration.

Each year, approximately 300 people gather for this prestigious annual event at the Callander Community Centre. A celebration of good times in a great community, the Heritage Ball has always supported various initiatives throughout the Callander community.

“We are very excited about this year’s event and are thrilled that the proceeds will be going towards the year-long celebration we have planned for our fantastic community,” said Callander Mayor Hec Lavigne.

Callander’s 125th Anniversary Celebration will begin at 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Yarlasky Park and the Bill Barber Complex with fireworks, ice skating, and refreshments. Other events have also been planned throughout the year in celebration of the long and storied history of Callander.

“This is a fantastic community filled with fantastic people and as much as we will be celebrating our long history, we are also looking towards a bright future,” explained Mayor Lavigne.

The Mayor’s Heritage Ball will begin with cocktails at 6:00pm, and will be followed by dinner catered by Cecil’s at 7:00pm and dancing from 8:30 to 11:00pm. There will also be an auction of unique items that have donated by local artists and businesses.
